An unexpected opportunity for a young couple and their nine-month-old daughter to visit the island of St Lucia for the famous jazz festival.

After stumbling across a dilapidated house on a sightseeing trip, the couple soon found themselves at the beginning of a momentous project. This was to repair and rejuvenate a home previously inhabited by A prominent member of the island’s legal profession, as well as an internationally-renowned dress designer who had worked for Princess Diana, amongst others.

With their young daughter rapidly approaching her first birthday, it seemed fitting that the villa be bought for – and named after – baby Giorgia, as an investment for the future and as a magnificent birthday present.

It took a truly incredible effort to overcome the adversity faced when renovating a home from 4,000 miles away but, through persistence and more than a little imagination, the couple were able to reach the end of the project.

Such was the success of the Redevelopment the value of the house quickly increased by a huge amount – not that the family has any intention of selling their daughter’s home.

Villa Giorgia is blessed with an incredible position for almost any activity and the presence of the Cricket World Cup in 2007 across the West Indies will only aid the economic growth of this unique island.

Now the redevelopment is complete, the results of such an ambitious plan are evident – the property was even strong enough to withstand the effects of Hurricane Ivan and, although furniture had to be found outside St Lucia – a fact regretted by the developer – the house pays testament to AmboStrachan Homes’ commitment and respect for the island’s heritage and economy.

Villa Giorgia is currently available for short-term or long-term rental. www.villagiorgia.com
