(RICHMOND HILL, Ga.) Richmond Hill Pharmacy matched the amount raised by the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Youth Association car wash at the annual Fall Festival and Health Fair and donated the proceeds to MedBANK.

Members of the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Youth Association raised $204 during its Oct. 28 car wash. Richmond Hill Pharmacy owner Al Dixon matched that amount in the donation to MedBANK.

MedBANK Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer organization that assists the uninsured in obtaining prescription medications free of charge from pharmaceutical companies. MedBANK serves citizens of Chatham, Bryan and Effingham Counties.

“MedBANK performs a wonderful service by helping the needy find access to prescriptions,” Dixon said. “It's important for us that people are able to have access to improve or maintain their health. That's what we're all about.”

The Fall Festival and Health Fair offered flu shots, cholesterol checks, bone density tests and pneumonia shots at reduced rates. Local businesses provided information to help parents keep families safe and healthy.

Locally-owned, Richmond Hill Pharmacy is a full-service pharmacy with a knowledgeable staff that knows their customers by name, and can fill most prescriptions in 15 minutes or less. The drive-through window allows customers to drop off or pick up prescriptions conveniently. Richmond Hill Pharmacy specializes in unusual products and services such as compounding medicines, hormone replacement compounding, blister packing, diabetic shoes, lift chairs and veterinarian prescriptions for your pet.

Al Dixon owns the pharmacy, which was founded by Ben Chapman. Under Dixon's leadership, Richmond Hill Pharmacy continues to reflect the commitment to the community wellness that was instilled in the business by Chapman. Dixon lives in Richmond Hill with his wife Peggy and two daughters, Kellie and Morgan. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a pharmacy degree in 1982.
