New York, NY - Bulgarian Virtuosi Artists will present Kalin Ivanov at Weil Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 8 PM. In this concert of works for cello and piano, Bulgarian cellist, Kalin Ivanov and pianist Elena Antimova, will perform a program of Barber's Sonata for Cello and Piano Op 6, and Schumann's Fantasiestucke Op. 73. The program will feature Three World Premieres: Bulgarian composer Roumi Petrova's Passacaglia for Cello and Piano on a traditional Bulgarian melody and Five Miniatures on Old Bulgarian Themes for Solo Cello, and Narrator and pianist/composer Elena Antimova's Thracian Glitter.

In the Five Miniatures on Old Bulgarian Themes for Solo Cello and Narrator by Roumi Petrova, Mr. Ivanov will be joined by noted writer Phyllis Y. Harris author of From the Soul: Great Black Parents and the Lives.

This concert will also celebrate the release of Ivanov's two new CDs on the Gega New label. The first CD includes the Barber Sonata for Cello and Piano Op. 6 and Schumann's Fantasiestucke Op. 73, featured on the first half of this recital. The second CD includes works of Roumi Petrova's Passacaglia for Cello and Piano on a traditional Bulgarian melody and Five Miniatures on Old Bulgarian Themes. The audience will enjoy this CD during the second half of the recital. The first of these CDs will be available for purchase at the concert.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for seniors and students.

About the Artist:
Moscow North describes the cellist Kalin Ivanov as an artist with a "deep, emotional, and poetic performing style." Kalin Ivanov is a prominent soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and recording artist. A native of Bulgaria, Ivanov began studying cello at the age of six with his father. Mr. Ivanov holds Masters of Music from Brooklyn College, where he studied cello with Marion Feldman. His recordings have been played on WYNC radio, Voice of America, Voice of Russia, Radio Free Europe, WNYE Radio, CUNY TV, WNYE TV, Eurocom TV, Bulgarian National Radio and TV. Mr. Ivanov is the subject of one-hour film biography by Bulgarian National TV, and was a featured performer in an Emmy Award-nominated short film "Study with the Best" by CUNY TV. He has recorded two CDs: Roumi Petrova, Project Bacillus Bulgaricus and Kalin Ivanov, works for cello and piano.
