Web Wilson’s antique hardware auction No. 51 will be open for online bidding on December 3, starting at 9 p.m. EDT. More than 120 fine lots of hand picked vintage builders’ hardware will be sold to the highest bidder.

This antique hardware auction will present many items from a long time collector, who has never previously offered any of the collection for sale. There will be selected items from several additional quality consignors. Among the auction highlights are a pair of H&D Treasury knobs with plates, and a matching mortise lock made entirely of brass. Also up for auction is a rare Mallory Wheeler jumbo flower knob, a Heart knob in near mint condition, and a fine Mallory Wheeler Grape knob. Additional important lots include double keyhole plates by Norwalk, two Mallory Wheeler entry size hex knobs, several sets of bronze hinges, a large period brass door knocker, and a Canadian emblematic entry knob featuring a moose, a caribou, and a polar bear.

Of special interest will be the many lock sets that include matching knobs, plates, mortise locks, escutcheons and even night works. There will be many lots of smaller items such as sash locks, door bells, rosettes, and keyhole escutcheons.

WebWilson.com produced their first antique hardware auction in 1995 and from the start they have built a reputation for quality, integrity, and record setting prices. They sold the first “doggie” door knob for $3600 in 1996, and a few years later, sold a rare variation of the doggie design for more than $8000. In 2005 Web Wilson’s Internet auctions set the current world record doorknob price when they sold an MCCC Standing Elk knob for $9450.

Also in 2005, Web Wilson worked with a group of professional antiques dealers to launch AntiquesYes.com, a vetted on line auction site with many custom features such as anonymous bidders and an extended bidding option.

The WebWilson.com web site includes a virtual museum and library and links to many hardware buyers and sellers. It is considered the premiere Internet destination for all those seeking to learn about and to purchase antique builders’ hardware.

The WebWilson.com 51st Antique Hardware Auction will open for bidding on Sunday, December 3rd. Lots close at one minute intervals and there are no hidden reserves. Register now at www.AntiquesYes.com.
