Expect the Unexpected at Cymbidium Floral: European Flair and Elegant Aesthetics Emphasize Store’s Unique Style

Exeter, NH/November 2006 - We’ve all received ‘predictable’ flower bouquets. The flowers are sent with great sentiment, but the arrangement doesn’t do the sender’s thoughtfulness justice. The bouquet is all too often, ‘run of the mill’. Cymbidium Floral, at 141 Water Street in Exeter, offers a solution – unique, one of-a-kind, custom designs.

Proprietor, Jessica Christoferson credits her schooling in design at Cornell University, along with internships in London and the work she did in Chicago’s floral industry, as the impetus to her striking style. Her designs possess an undeniably European feel with elegant lines, often accentuated by monochromatic color schemes and hand-tied bouquets. Jessica also believes it’s important to recognize the inherent beauty of flowers and allow that to come through without being muddled by ‘too much of a good thing’.

Christoferson points out, “Quite often, one single flower can have more of an impact than a large arrangement. A flower is a work of art, and I want to accentuate that in a way that highlights its natural beauty without taking anything away from it. Each design allows me to create something entirely new, and that part of the process really speaks to me. It’s still one of things that I love the most about floral design.”

The 29 year-old entrepreneur is building a solid reputation for offering a unique selection of flowers; another part of the store’s signature style. Cymbidium Floral does sell the always-popular rose, but tempts customers with other flowers they may have never seen before such as gloriosa lilies, ranunculus, and protea. Orchid plants and stems, which often include the store’s namesake Cymbidium Orchid, are popular items that continually fly off the shelves.

Services run the gamut, from bouquets and arrangements to floral design for weddings and events. On any given day Jessica may be engaged in a wedding consultation, designing an arrangement, or reviewing an event order with staff. Christoferson is very pleased to have found designers with exceptional talents that are in harmony with Cymbidium Floral’s approach.

The boutique offers vases, plants, candles, and other gift items, but the ever-present fresh flowers serve as the primary focus displayed throughout the store so customers can handpick their choices. The mood is peaceful and relaxing, with two comfortable leather chairs inviting customers to take a moment to enjoy their surroundings.

Offering in-house and on-site, private workshops for small groups, Cymbidium Floral shares information on design tips, care instructions, varieties, and how to use flowers to create a pleasing atmosphere. The boutique, itself, makes the perfect setting for intimate events such as jewelry parties.

Notably, Cymbidium Floral’s arrangements are always individually designed for each order, making use of the most appropriate selection and style. Reflective of that attention to detail is Cymbidium Floral’s inclusion in B Brooks Fine Flowers, an upscale wiring service with juried membership. Jessica Christoferson always welcomes input from customers that can help make a design special to the recipient, whether it’s a favorite flower or color. Delivery services are available throughout the Seacoast region. Cymbidium Floral is open Tuesday- Friday 10 am to 6pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4pm and can be reached at 603-772-1300, 1-888-936-1300, www.cymbidiumfloral.com or by visiting the boutique at 141 Water Street in Exeter.
