WORKING HEADLINE: Make a Difference…Accept the Challenge.

Damon Topham and Company. LLC, a Marshfield based accounting and management advisory firm are, for the third year, donating $1,000 to the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club and they are challenging other Marshfield businesses to match their donation. The Marshfield Boys and Girls Club is dedicated to providing the Town of Marshfield’s youth with enrichment and recreation programs in a safe environment. In 2004, the club established a vibrant 4,000 square-foot storefront space at Library Plaza, which is ideal because of its central location.

Club officials they the club is outgrowing its space in Library Plaza. A year ago, the club had approximately 650 members, but that number has grown to over 900. The cost to renovate, equip and furnish the site was approximately $100,000. The Club annual budget is approximately $250,000.

The club's, executive director, Greg Jackson, said families who can't afford the $50 membership fees receive scholarships because of fund-raisers like this one. Damon, Topham and Company are challenging local business owners to make a tax-deductible matching donation of $1,000 or more to help the community in which their business thrives while enriching thousands of children’s lives at the same time. John Topham, founding partner of Damon, Topham and Company noted, “A donation of $1,000 breaks down to $2.75 a day. Most business can afford and prioritize that expenditure.”

Last year the challenge netted $7,000 in business community contributions. “The Boys and Girls Club offers a positive recreational environment for our children. But our town’s club needs financial support from the business community to continue to expand programming and services. This is the ideal opportunity for local businesses to give right back to their community through charity. I urge all Marshfield businesses to take the challenge of matching or exceeding Damon Topham’s donation to truly make a difference in many young lives,” noted John Topham.

Businesses who choose to take the challenge and support the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club will recognized by the club’s publicity. Business owners can contribute to the Damon Topham Challenge based on four scholarship levels. Categories of giving include Gold members at $1,000; Silver members at $500; Bronze members at $250, and businesses that contribute under $250 are considered to be Friends of the Boys and Girls Club.
