Bruce Gaitsch Makes Musical Memories on New Album

Nashville, TN – With a reputation as a "guitarist’s guitarist," world-class musician Bruce Gaitsch’s credits include writing, recording and performing with such illustrious artists as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Amy Grant, Chicago, Michael W. Smith, Yolanda Adams and Madonna. Gaitsch’s new album, Sincerely, releasing February 20, 2007, on Autumn Records, offers a variety of musical styles, sonic palettes and memorable melodies, featuring original instrumental compositions performed on the renowned McPherson® acoustic guitars. A family affair, the album features background vocals by Gaitsch’s wife Janey Clewer (Harry Connick, Jr., Ray Charles, Patti LaBelle) and flute by daughter Samantha Gaitsch, in addition to harmonica by virtuoso Howard Levy (Paul Simon, Nicole C. Mullen).

Meticulously recorded with the finest vintage and modern microphones and pre-amps for the ultimate in acoustic guitar tone, Gaitsch’s Sincerely poignantly captures the brilliant talent of this premiere guitarist and the crisp sound of McPherson® acoustic guitars. "Usually, acoustic guitars are recorded mono, compressed and equalized so that they don’t interfere sonically with the other instruments to be recorded," Gaitsch explains. "I wanted this guitar to be captured as I hear it while I play. It is the world’s finest sounding acoustic guitar, and the fidelity and feel of it as you play is an incredible experience."

Born and raised in Chicago, Bruce Gaitsch was inspired to write and perform at an early age. His father was a pedal steel player on the WLS Barndance for years and owned a music store frequented by many up-and-coming stars of the Midwest scene, such as Ted Nugent, The Shadows of Knight, The Buckinghams and Chicago. Bruce's exposure to the music scene led him to pursue music as a career, playing every possible gig he could land in Chicago. Gaitsch went on to record more than 3,000 sessions in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles in 1984.

However, it was through helping a friend from Chicago, Richard Marx, who happened to be looking for a record deal about the same time Gaitsch moved to Los Angeles, that Gaitsch first made his mark on the charts. Co-writing and recording Marx’s debut single, "Don’t Mean Nothing," Gaitsch landed his first Top 5 radio hit. Another famous collaboration was with Patrick Leonard and Madonna—Gaitsch joined the two in writing the song "La Isla Bonita" for Madonna’s True Blue record. The song became Gaitsch’s first #1 hit, eventually reaching #1 in over 24 countries worldwide and winning Gaitsch ASCAP’s "Most Performed" Award in 1987. Over the years, Gaitsch’s songs have been recorded by Timothy B. Schmidt of The Eagles, Peter Cetera, Chicago, Kansas, The Fixx, Restless Heart, Poco, Phillip Bailey, Tom Scott, Agnetta Faltskog of ABBA and Lara Fabian, among others.
