Community in a Box launches an online shop

Anderson Toomey Limited has launched a shop on their global communications product Community in a Box. The growth in Community in a Box (CIAB) popularity has made it essential for the company to find ways of generating an income from the product and a shop offering bargain hunters great deals on the Internet is just one option.
George Anderson the technical director states that the company has been aware for some time that they are in danger of demands on the existing server outstripping capacity. “We wish for CIAB to remain free to use”, says George.

Other money generating ideas are in the planning stage and the company is committed to making CIAB pay its own way. “Free on the Internet is a subjective phrase” says Managing Director Alistair Toomey. “Community in a Box already carries advertising and though we believe the page design allows for advertising to be attractively displayed to the user, we are aware that we need to respect their space. “Whatever we do to generate income we must respect the user. This means that we recognise that their online experience with us must be enhanced by any changes and improvements that we make”.

This is version 1 of a shop that the company plans to completely redesign next year and it is to test the waters so to speak. At present the shop carries something for everyone, with big brand names and their products. Searching for what you wish to buy could not be easier and the whole shopping experience is designed to be easy, quick and safe to use.

Big brands include Apple Store, BT Shop, Carphone Warehouse and JD Sports to name a few.

With users all over the world Community in a Box is on the way to becoming a well- known global brand. It is early days yet as the product was only launched in July of this year but the signs are good for this new feature. Much more has still to be developed and customer feedback so far as been very positive. “2007 will be a busy year for the development team, as well as completely redesigning the shop we are introducing text messaging to the platform”, says George.
