NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 15, 2006) — Nashville record label, Category 5, has announced that singer/songwriter Jerrod Niemann has been signed to their roster. Niemann joins an impressive list of artists already with Category 5 including Travis Tritt and Sammy Kershaw. Niemann's first single, "I Love Women My Mama Can't Stand," from his debut album will be released in February 2007.

Raymond Termini, President of Category 5, said, "Jerrod is the perfect addition to our roster, country fans are going to love this guy. He is not only a great singer and writer but he commands the stage in what I like to refer to as a 'high-energy hoe down.' Our promotions team is ready to rock and we really feel good about this song. I truly enjoyed working with Jerrod in the studio, he is a positive spirit."

A Kansas native, Niemann is already one of Nashville's most respected songwriters. He is perhaps most well known for the hit single "Good Ride Cowboy" which he co-wrote with Garth Brooks, for which he received a BMI Award in 2005 for having one of the top 50 copyrights of the year. He is also a co-writer on Brooks' single "That Girl is a Cowboy" as well as having cuts by artists Neil McCoy, Julie Roberts and Jamey Johnson. As an entertainer, Niemann has opened for such artists as Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Tracy Lawrence, Gary Allan, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Josh Turner and many more.

"I am honored to be working with a group of such driven individuals. The experienced team Ray Termini has assembled is so passionate and excited about what they do, and from the short time I've been able to work with them, I can't imagine being anywhere else," Niemann said of signing with the label.

Launched in January 2006, Category 5 Records has an executive team of seasoned music industry veterans as well as a full radio promotion staff. With distribution by Sony/Red, the label has already asserted itself as a prominent player on Nashville's Music Row.
