SearchAdNetwork Earns International Summit MEA Award for Wildblue Campaign

December 14, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
More than 400 companies worldwide competed for an International Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award. SearchAdNetwork, www.searchadnetwork.com, earned a finalist Summit MEA for its unique, local search deployment for Wildblue. SearchAdNetwork, in partnership with Google, designed the industry’s first polygon mapping technique that enabled Wildblue to draw virtual polygons around U.S. rural areas and execute a precisely targeted, local search campaign.

The International Summit MEA organization is dedicated to furthering excellence in the communications industry. It is founded on the belief that the goal of marketing communications is to successfully change or influence the target audience’s knowledge, attitudes and beliefs. Using rigorous evaluative criteria and blind judging processes, judges analyzed entries to determine if they significantly achieved these goals. SearchAdNetwork was one of 65 companies to earn a Summit MEA and join the distinguished ranks in 2006.

“With industry reports projecting that SEM will grow to nearly $11 billion by 2010, SEM is a powerful marketing technique that marketers can’t afford to ignore,” said Andrew Beckman, president of SearchAdNetwork. “When planned and executed correctly, SEM can benefit any company regardless of size, industry or location. We are very proud of this award because it recognized and rewarded the potential of SEM.”

This year's panel of judges included:
- Jay Stuck, President - Brand Guy Inc. – United States
- Kathleen C. McCulloch PhD, Post-doctoral research scientist – University of Florida-Psychology Department – United States
- Libby Lucas, Creative Director - Adculture Group, Inc. – Canada
- Saurabh Dasgupta, Creative Team Head - Innocean Worldwide – India
- Rick Penn-Kraus, Design Director - Hill & Knowlton, Inc. – United States
- David Ross, Group Copy Supervisor – Quantum Advertising – United States

“Winning a Summit MEA is a significant accomplishment. The combination of our excellent judges and the tough judging criteria ensures that only deserving entries receive Summit MEA recognition,” said Jocelyn Luciano, Executive Director for the Summit Awards.

The Wildblue Campaign
With more than $200 million in funding and aggressive business goals set to increase rural subscriber base by end of year, Wildblue and SearchAdNetwork launched their inaugural search engine campaign in January 2006. Utilizing population density maps the WildBlue team drew polygon map sketches that excluded metropolitan areas with populations greater than 10,000 and that were no larger than 253 miles from its center to its extreme point. The SearchAdNetwork and Google team then copied these maps using Google’s local targeting mapping technology resulting in highly targeted campaign regions.

In less than 30 days, SearchAdNetwork designed and deployed more than 200 polygon-styled maps with Google Local nationwide. In tandem, SearchAdNetwork deployed hundreds of thousands of keyword phrases on a nationwide targeting campaign, utilizing Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask, and many other targeted search engines. SearchAdNetwork’s unique and targeted approach allowed WildBlue to bid on highly competitive keywords that would not provide an adequate return on investment if targeted to a nationwide audience. For example, WildBlue bids aggressively on keyword phrases such as “high speed internet” on its local search campaign, while the focus on its nationwide campaign are keyword phrases such as “satellite internet.”
