EYP.ph, the Philippine Yellow Pages online wins the 2006 Web Award for best portal website.

EYP (www.eyp.ph), the electronic yellow pages of Directories Philippines Corporation, shines brightly having been judged Best Website at the 9th Philippine Web Awards for the Community and Portal category at the recently concluded award ceremony held in the RCBC Plaza in Makati City last December 7, 2006.

The Philippine Web Awards is an annual competition that pits the best of the best Filipino websites for specific categories such as community and portal, personal websites, lifestyle and leisure and more, for a total of 13 categories. EYP faced tough competition from a total of 11 other entries in the Community and Portal category.

Nominees are screened by users through SMS and Online voting while the finals are judged by a prestigious panel of foreign and local judges composed of Internet professionals known for being notables in the field. The Philippine Web Awards bequeath the highest honor for a website in the Philippines being the Internet equivalent of the Oscar’s, in which entries are judged by a panel of their peers.

EYP was represented by the President of OHSI and concurrent DPC Consultant for New Media Services, Mr. Doji B. Lopez, who received the award from Ms. Francine Prieto. After EYP was awarded its trophy the celebrity hosts of the event, JM Rodriguez and Sheryll Crystal, candidly spoke about how they themselves use EYP to find the contact information of anything they need, most notably to order food. Mr. Rodriguez even exclaimed that EYP’s recognition was “very well-deserved!”.
