CHICAGO –Robert Verdi, television host of Discovery Channel’s home fashion television show “Surprise by Design,” will be making numerous public appearances promoting the use of wallpaper.

Verdi, who is also the spokesperson for the Wallcoverings Association, will be promoting the use of wallpaper for decorating residential homes on a variety of prime-time television and print avenues, including a guest spot on ABC’s popular day-time talk show, “The View.”

Verdi plans to decorate the nursery for host Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s baby-to-be using wallpaper, because of its versatility and, of course, its recently renewed popularity as a modern decorating medium. Hasselbeck and her husband are expecting their child in March /April 2005.

In addition to the nursery, Verdi has plans to design the trailer for celebrity Eva Longoria from the ABC primetime hit show, “Desperate Housewives.” Longoria portrays former runway model Gabrielle Solis and was recently voted by Variety as one of the “Ten New Faces to Watch.” In this decorating endeavor, Verdi plans to utilize the glamorous nature of wallcoverings to suit the extravagant ways of Longoria’s television character.

Participating in a satellite media tour, Verdi will discuss the growing demand for wallcoverings in interior design and highlight the numerous trends in wallcoverings. This appearance will involve national television media outlets, which will be downlinked to cities throughout the country, providing a widespread outreach to consumers across the nation about the growing demand for residential wallcoverings.

Verdi is the only personality on television who uniquely blends home furnishings with fashion. His show, “Surprise by Design,” has been the number one show on the Discovery Channel for four years, and has maintained its rating as one of the top five shows on cable television for four consecutive seasons. Additionally, Verdi hosts the hit half-hour series “Fashion Police,” which airs on the Style Network, owned and operated by E! Entertainment Television, Inc. The fashion-forward program offers fashion and beauty guidelines, as well as insider celebrity gossip. Also on the resume of this New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology graduate: style consultant for Gay Entertainment Television, host of Metro TV’s “Full Frontal Fashion,” guest spots on “The View,” “Regis and Kelly,” “The Today Show,” CNN’s “Headline News,” and much more.
