Workhaven Limited, the owners of the popular online recruitment website workhaven.com, have announced the launch of it's free browser based newsreader under the separate url www.mowtow.com.

The mowtow newsreader was initially developed by Workhaven staff for internal use. Frustrated by security policies that prevented the installation of personal software on work computers, programmers developed a non-intrusive browser based newsreader that they could use on their PCs without the installation of software.

The product was so popular within the company that free public access was made available to it via the www.workhaven.com website.

As usage increased the decision was taken to launch it under its own url - www.mowtow.com.

Mowtow is proving especially popular within security conscious corporate environments. It presents a small scrolling window of news from a variety of reputable sources in a simple novice-proof format. The recent addition of a 'search for news' facility allows users to focus on news subjects of particular personal interest.

According to Workhaven's CIO Bruce Medhurst:
"The newsreader represents an example of simple RSS technology applied in a package designed to suit the needs of the everyday corporate user.

Help Desk like it because it's not a support burden. Users like it because it's simple to use, provides non-intrusive scrolling news to their screen and introduces a dynamic element to otherwise static screen displays. Corporate Security like it because all their usual internet browser protection continues to apply. The IT Infrastructure guy's tend to like it too because it's low on bandwidth usage and there's no software to install."
