West Hollywood, CA, – A groundbreaking weekend seminar series dedicated to providing education, support and long-term strategic living skills to individuals living with and affected by HIV will be held January 19-21 in West Hollywood.

“HIV does not discriminate so the weekend brings together a diverse group of men, women, people of color, gay and heterosexual. We welcome everyone,” said Sunnie Rose, Executive Director of The Life Group LA, the organization that created the seminar.

The two-and-a-half day event will feature workshops dealing with issues such as HIV drug treatment options, insurance and public benefits, stress management, recreational drug use, clinical trials and HIV disclosure.

More than 15 professionals and experts will speak during the weekend. Among them are:

• Dr. Eric S. Daar, a member of the faculty at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and the Director of the Division of HIV Medicine. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine.

• Dr. Michael S. Gottlieb, one of the first doctors to write about AIDS. He was Rock Hudson’s physician, and following the actor’s death from AIDS, joined with Elizabeth Taylor to launch the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

• Dr. Jeff St. John, a self-help expert, author and motivational speaker. He wrote Get Out of the Way—I’m Late for My Life!® Spiritual Principles for Powerful Living and He co-authored The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Cosmetic Surgery.

• Martell Randolph, a community educator for AIDS Research Alliance who began her work with HIV prior to receiving her own positive diagnosis in 2000.

• Bradley Land, HIV+ Fifth District Commissioner, Priority and Planning Co-Chair Los Angeles County Commission On HIV. Brad has been living with HIV since 1982.

The POZ Life Weekend Seminar recently received a $20,000 grant from the QueensCare Foundation, which provides holistic health care and outreach to the under-served and uninsured. Contributions from QueensCare, sponsoring organizations and private donors enable the event to be free of charge for participants.
