Data Recovery Software sucess

Australian based GetData Software has passed the remarkable figure of 100,000 customers worldwide in three years, the companys Managing Director, John Hunter, revealed this week.

GetData Software is one of the worlds leading data recovery companies

Its been quite an astonishing growth rate. Our lead product, Recover My Files, just took off. There wasnt a cost effective software application that could as thoroughly recover deleted or lost files. We found a gap in the market, Mr. Hunter added.

So successful was the product off the www.getdata.com website, that software distribution companies in six European territories, then Japan and last year the U.S. negotiated retail distribution deals in each of those countries.

We get the best of both worlds people can simply go to the website, download and try it before they buy it or buy the boxed product. We did a deal here in Australia last year so the product is now in Harvey Norman, Harris Technology and Domayne, Mr. Hunter explained.

We still get a strong reaction from local people. Theyre surprised were a Sydney based company but theyre probably more surprised when we explain we can get their word documents, spreadsheets, digital photos, iPOD files, emails and almost anything else back, even from a reformatted drive or if theyve been hit by a virus.

Two of the three developers of the software (and owners of the company together with former physicist Dr. Brett Hunter), John Hunter and Graham Henley are former police forensic investigators who headed the Price WaterhouseCoopers corporate forensic investigation team in Sydney.

Wed developed data recovery software in the process of investigating a number of failed major companies. And then realized it had a much broader application in the wider community and set up GetData, Mr. Hunter explained.

GetData has a range of successful software products, including Recover My Photos, Explorer View, Burn My Files and Recover My Emails.

We had a stand at the big CeBIT 2006 Australia IT trade show a week or so ago and got an enormous reaction to Recover My Files and Explorer View, which allows a PC user to view any file in Windows Explorer with a single click, including videos, pictures, spreadsheets and word documents. Its a time saving productivity tool for anyone using a computer.
