New Faces in Key Leadership Roles at Thanksgiving Point

LEHI, UTAH — Thanksgiving Point Institute, the cultural gathering place for the community, announced today the promotion and hiring of three management staff.

Todd Maurer Promoted to Chief Marketing Officer
Todd Maurer was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. Maurer will be responsible for marketing and promoting Thanksgiving Point’s opportunities for hands-on discovery to guests and the community.

“Thanksgiving Point has grown and evolved over the last few years and Todd has been key in that evolution,” said Mike Washburn, CEO of Thanksgiving Point. “We were fortunate to have someone of Todd’s experience and knowledge on staff to promote to this important position.”

Maurer joined Thanksgiving Point in November of 2004 as the Director of Communications. He was previously with Children’s Miracle Network.

Maurer is very involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, Executive Board of Directors of Alta Little League Football, Sight-Seeing Committee of the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is actively involved in his church.

Jennifer Stevens Hired as Director of Development
Jennifer Stevens is the newly appointed Director of Development at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. Stevens will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a plan building on the organization’s current support, as well as expanding constituencies giving to the non-profit organization.

Stevens spent thirteen years at the University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business, where she began as the Director of Development and Community Relations and later served as the Assistant Dean of External Relations.

“The vision of Thanksgiving Point has long included plans for a Children’s Museum. Jennifer’s experience in fundraising will be crucial as we begin funding and developing this resource for our community,” said Mike Washburn, CEO of Thanksgiving Point.

Stevens has contributed as a volunteer to many philanthropic organizations, including the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Repertory Dance Theatre, and the Utah Heritage Foundation. She resides in Salt Lake City with her family, two dogs and a cat and enjoys golf, fly-fishing and gardening.

Erica VanAmen Hired as Director of Communications
Erica VanAmen is the newly appointed Director of Communications at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. VanAmen will be responsible for managing and directing Thanksgiving Point’s internal and external communications.

VanAmen joined Thanksgiving Point after serving as the Director of Marketing and Member Services at the Denver Board of REALTORS® and the Denver Metro Commercial Association of REALTORS®.

“Erica brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm,” said Todd Maurer, Chief Marketing Officer at Thanksgiving Point. “We are thrilled to have her on board.”

VanAmen has worked as a volunteer for many community and philanthropic organizations, including the DMCAR Expo and University of Denver Fall Forecast Planning Committee, the Women of Enterprise (WE) scholarship program, Habitat for Humanity, and the Dumb Friends League.
