Portland, OR—April 1, 2005—Sports Management Worldwide officially welcomes Grip founder and President Bret Polvorosa to its staff. Polvorosa, a sports sales and marketing specialist, will join instructor Tom Leip in facilitating SMWW’s Sports Revenue Management Course.

“We are ecstatic that Bret has agreed to join our staff,” said SMWW President Dr. G. Lynn Lashbrook. “This is someone who is making a successful living in sports working with numerous sports entities throughout the country and he’s done it all from scratch. His story will speak to a lot of people. He learned how to use his business skills as a vehicle into the world of sports, and he’s offering to help our students do the same.”

“I broke into this business over ten years ago by accepting a part-time, commission only ticket sales position in minor league baseball and that job wasn’t easy to get,” said Polvorosa. “Now I work with and train the sales, service and marketing departments for many prominent sports teams and collegiate properties throughout the country. It’s exciting to join the SMWW team because I know first hand what it’s like trying to get a job in sports without having the right connections and can provide students a marketable skill set that I know team executives seek.”

Grip, based in Portland, OR, is a leading professional development organization that provides workshops and seminars for North American business development units in the sports and corporate sectors.
