The Polynesian Paradise Dancers (PPD) Is Travelling to China this August to October In Honor of The Upcoming 2008 Olympics

Santa Fe Springs, CA – The Polynesian Paradise Dancers (PPD), a professional Polynesian dance company based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA is travelling to China this August thru October for an international tour in honor of the upcoming 2008 Olympics being held in Beijing. This trip marks their sixth invitation to the eastern country within the past two years.

“It has been such an honor to have been invited back to perform in China,” says company director, Akemi Welsh. “The opportunity to spread our love for the Polynesian culture around the world has no comparison.”

PPD is scheduled to be there for a two-month festival, performing a Polynesian revue. Currently, they are scheduled to hit 10 cities across China. Previous trips have been in honor of various events, including Chinese New Year, the AFRAS Celebration and several international tourism festivals.

“I love dancing with PPD,” shares first year member, Lourdes Mack. “I have had the opportunity to see places I have never seen doing what I love most- dancing,” Mack adds.

The Polynesian Paradise Dancers rehearse out of The Academy of Polynesian Performing Arts Dance studio based in Santa Fe Springs. Under the supervision of Welsh, the academy offers classes in various types of Polynesian Dance, including Hawaiian hula, Tahitian, Maori, Samoan and drumming.
