India’s most prestigious awards for machine tools players and equipment designers from CMTI-PMT Trust announced

Bangalore: It is the showpiece award that every machine tool company and equipment designer looks forward to. The Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) Bangalore & the D L Shah Trust for Applied Sciences, Technology, Arts & Philosophy, today gave away the awards for the best creative designers of machine tools and equipment at a function held as part of IMTEX’2007 today. The list of winners are:

Metal cutting and removing machines (medium and large enterprises)
Kennametal India Ltd., Bangalore - 3-Axis CNC Modular Lean Machine
Parishudh Machines Pvt. Ltd., Delhi - Vertical Hard Turning and Universal Grinding Centre

Metal forming and metal joining machines (medium and large enterprises)
Electropneumatics and Hydralulics (India) Pvt. Ltd., Pune - 63 ton Servo Mecanical Press

Metal forming and metal joining machines (small enterprise)
ETA Technology Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore - Friction Welding Machine with built-in pre-machining & force control system

Attachment/ accessories/ equipment/ software (small enterprises)
Jointly bagged by Cadem Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and Pioneer Computing Technologies, Bangalore, for their mPOD system for monitoring shop floor productivity, and TPM- Trak system for monitoring shop floor productivity respectively.
Also Acumac Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore for their high speed, high power spindle unit for machining centres
Presenting the awards to the winners, Chief Guest of the function, C P Rangachar, President, IMTMA, said,” Innovation and capacity enhancement are the biggest challenges the Indian machine tool industry faces today and design & new product development is key to the industry’s capability to address this challenge. CMTI-PMT Trust awards are a good initiative to harness these major aspects for Indian manufacturers and I warmly congratulate the winners of this year’s awards.”

The CMTI-PMT Trust was established in 1977 under the leadership of the veteran of the machine tool industry Late Mr. D L Shah. The CMTI-PMT Trust awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards for the machine tool and equipment designers. These awards are judged based on the machine tools exhibited at each edition of IMTEX. The panel of judges is drawn from well known machine tool and equipment designers, scientists and academicians examine each exhibit as per the entries and recommend the deserving designers for the awards. These recommendations are further scrutinized and the list of awardees is finalized by the board of trustees of the CMTI-PMT Trust.

Bangalore-based CMTI is India’s apex institute for R&D and academic research in the field of manufacturing solutions. The institute plays a vital and leadership role in the continuing competitiveness and technology leadership of the sector which is strategic to India’s growth.
