Animal Refuge Kingdom Rescues Injured Yellow Labrador

The Animal Refuge Kingdom, a non-profit animal rescue facility, is seeking help for a new friend. Steve Sorensen, Director and Kathe Reis, President of the Animal Refuge Kingdom, rescued a Labrador Retriever who had been hit by a car and left in a ditch for two days. Upon rescuing the dog, it was evident the animal could not stand up and had some hind end damage. The dog was transported to The ARK, located in Cleburne, TX, for overnight observation.

The next morning, it was apparent he would need medical attention. The ARK staff took the dog to Alvarado Veterinary Clinic. Upon their arrival, Dr. Steve Menzies set forth with getting some good x-rays to determine the injuries. The x-rays showed not one but two broken legs. Two broken legs at the same time makes for an extremely hard rehabilitation. After careful consideration and Dr. Menzie’s recommendations, the dog went in to surgery for approximately 4 hours. All went well.

The ARK has made attempts to locate the owners of the dog, however no one has come forward to claim him. The Animal Refuge Kingdom does not normally take in dogs and cats, they primarily take in large animals such as horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, and deer. The ARK is hoping to find a new home for this special dog and is soliciting funds to help with his medical expenses.

The mission of the Animal Refuge Kingdom is to provide a sanctuary for abused animals and a therapeutic facility for special needs children and adults. The ARK is not open to the general public but works with handicapped children, children’s hospitals, seniors in assisted living centers and church youth groups.

The ARK hopes to have a happy ending to this endeavor. If you can help by providing a home for this special dog or by donating to help take care of the medical expenses you can contact The ARK by email at theark1@cowtown.net or by phone (817) 641-7480. Donations can be mailed to The ARK, 4825 Conveyor Drive, Cleburne, TX 76031. For more information on The ARK go to www.animalrefugekingdom.org.
