FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – The Batmobile offered at RM’s Florida Collector Car Auction is one the most instantly recognizable vehicles in the world and still commands attention after 40 years in show business. This classic crime fighting machine made famous in the 1960’s Batman television series is one of over 400 classic vehicles being offered at Florida’s premier classic car auction to be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center February 9-11, 2007.

The Batmobile offered here is a continuation model of the original sixties model that George Barris built from the 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept car. Handcrafted features include flashing lights, drag chutes, machined main exhaust port, cockpit domes, interior switches, gadget buttons, full gauges, Batphone and Batscanner. The fiberglass body was crafted from molds taken from the original Bat 1 car. Built for function and performance, the chassis is a 1979 Lincoln Continental with a 400ci V8, making the car comfortable and reliable for everyday use.

The three-day weekend event is expected to draw over 20,000 car collectors and enthusiasts from across North America to Fort Lauderdale.
