Boca Raton, FL – The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and The New Times released the nominees for their 2007 South Florida Dining Awards in this week’s New Times and Boca Raton chef, Angelo Morinelli, has been nominated in three categories.

Chef Angelo’s Cucina D’Angelo has been nominated as Finest Overall restaurant. His competition ranges from Café Boulud in Palm Beach to David Bouley’s Evolution in South Beach. Chef Angelo is also nominated for the Outstanding Chef Award and is the only chef from Boca Raton to be included in this prestigious list of chefs including Michelle Bernstein, Dewey LoSasso, Johnny Vinczcenz, and others.

Most notably, Chef Angelo has been nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award. This is in part because of his work at his Long Island restaurant, La Cisterna which he owned and operated for 33 years. During his time there, Chef Angelo published a cookbook and was featured in the New York Times, Newsday, and others, plus rated highly in the Zagat Survey.

Chef Angelo has owned Cucina D’Angelo in Boca Raton since 2003. In that time he has received the Best Restaurant award from Palm Beach Illustrated, Boca Raton Magazine and more. His Modern Tuscan cuisine has become a favorite in South Florida and he recently was awarded the Golden Chef Award by the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.

Chef Angelo has recently expanded his brand by opening Café D’Angelo in West Boca Raton. The new restaurant opens today at 5:30pm and will feature the cuisine of Southern Italy.

Cucina D’Angelo is located at 5050 Town Center Circle in Boca Center. The phone number is 561-750-2344. Café D’Angelo is located at 8228 Glades Rd. The phone number is 561-451-4404.
