Gerald Womack of Womack Development & Investment Realtors, Inc. and Crystal Brown-Tatum of Crystal Clear Communications are among the honorees of the 2007 Status of Women Scholarship Luncheon sponsored by the Gamma Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The luncheon, which honors 15 Houstonians for their community work, will be held Sunday, February 25th at 3:00p.m. at the University of Houston Hilton. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased on Tuesday, February 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the sorority house located at 2910 Wheeler or by calling (281) 447-3867 or (713) 385-4744.

“What’s most important in the community is taking someone under your wings and showing them the ropes”, says Womack. Womack was a recipient of the 2006 Pinnacle Award which highlights minority owned firms with a long standing commitment to community service. He is on the Board of Directors of Harris County MHMRA and active in the Greater Houston Partnership, YMCA, NAACP and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

“As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority, service to one’s community was instilled in me as a college student”, adds Brown-Tatum. “Although most people perform community service and outreach out of a sincere desire for goodwill, it is rewarding to be recognized for their efforts.” Brown was a 2006 Women on the Move honoree by Texas Executive Women and a 2005 Emerging 10 winner with the Houston Minority Business Council. She is on the Board of Directors at Bo’s Place and Gridiron Heroes and a member of the Texas Advocacy Committee with the American Heart Association.
