Talking Book World improves commutes for thousands of motorists all over the Greater Toronto Area in Canada. And 2007 marks the audiobook retailer's 10th anniversary. Its first store opened on November 30, 1997 at 386 Sheppard Avenue, just west of Bayview in Willowdale. The Downsview location at 3338 Dufferin Street across from Yorkdale Mall opened shortly after. These were followed by stores at 2100 Hurontario Street in Mississauga and 8555 Woodbine Avenue in Markham.

Halton, Peel, York and Durham have exploded in recent years. Mississauga, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham have grown especially fast, attracting thousands of residents with more space, more privacy, more parking.

But more drivers too, and more traffic.

The 401, the DVP, the QEW – all see long snaking snarls of traffic from 7 to 7, and commutes in excess of two hours a day are the norm. That’s 2600 hours in five years! Leading to stress, fatigue and frustration.

A four-store chain (Canada’s first and biggest), TBW rents and sells audiobooks – audio recordings on CD of bestsellers and classics, fiction and non-fiction.

Reading while they ride – with their ears, not their eyes - improves the commutes and changes the lives of TBW’s burgeoning customer base.

All four stores offer both pay-per-use and unlimited monthly rental programs with no due dates or late fees, as well as Canada’s largest selection of titles for sale. For more info call 1-905-799-1777.
