RIVERSIDE, CA, February 2007 – Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center (RHSPAC) will hold its 15th Annual Walk With The Animals fundraiser on March 24 from 8 a.m. to noon at Fairmount Park (band shell, area 4) in Riverside. Registration for walkers and their dogs, and cats too, starts at 8:00 a.m.; the walk begins at 9:00. Grand Marshal for this year’s walk is The Honorable Ret. Judge Victor Miceli.

People participating in the two-mile walk around Lake Evans are encouraged to collect pledges to sponsor their effort. The walker collecting the most pledge money will be awarded a Saturday night stay for two in a suite at Historic Mission Inn, including Sunday brunch. Other prizes also will be awarded.

Pledge/registration forms are available at RHSPAC, 5791 Fremont St., Riverside, or by calling RHSPAC at 951-688-4340 or e-mailing rhs@petsadoption.org. Proceeds from the event help provide care and shelter for the cats and dogs at RHSPAC until good homes are found.

The event is free and open to the public. Participating in the Walk is not required. It promises to be a fun-filled morning starting with a hearty $3 per person pancake breakfast served from 8 – 11 a.m. There will be a bake sale for both people and pets, a pet boutique, and numerous raffle prizes. Many animal-related exhibitors and rescue groups will offer information, products, services and animals available for adoption.

The morning’s entertainment includes demonstrations by Riverside Police Department’s K-9 unit and Muttley Crew K-9 Entertainment, as well as a parade of some of the dogs awaiting adoption at Riverside Humane Society. People bringing pets can enter the Owner-Pet Look-Alike contest or the Most Talented / Clever Pet contest.

“This has always been a very popular and successful fundraiser for Riverside Humane Society,” says Katie Wider, chairwoman of the event. “If sometime in your life a dog or cat has brought you joy, you will love spending the morning at Walk With The Animals. There will be hundreds of happy companion animals who, along with their human partners, have come out to support those dogs and cats at RHSPAC who await their forever homes.”

Free water will be available for people and pets and there will be first-aid for people and pets provided by Center for Healthcare Education and County of Riverside Dept. of Animal Services.
