SmartInspect 2.0 allows developers to improve software stability and performance

PADERBORN, Germany – Gurock Software, a German startup specialized in software development tools, announces the release of SmartInspect 2.0, a logging tool for debugging and monitoring .NET, Java and Delphi applications. The new release includes over 100 new features, improvements and bug fixes and introduces full Unicode support, new log protocols, backlog queue management for improved I/O performance, a new modern user interface and more.

The new Unicode support in all libraries and in the SmartInspect Console allows developers who build applications for a world-wide audience to use SmartInspect for building more solid and easier to support applications. The new log protocols like the text and memory protocols make it possible to use SmartInspect in new scenarios for end-user logging and for including SmartInspect logs in exception reporting mechanisms.

Improvements and new features in the graphical monitoring tool, the SmartInspect Console, make it easier for developers to filter huge logs, navigate between certain areas of interest and allow monitoring even the most complex applications. Special new features for monitoring production systems allow developers, QA and support staff to monitor live systems without stopping the application while still maintaining a high performance level that is crucial for such systems.

Other new features like the Watches Graph and Named Counters make it easier to track resources like database connections, client connections and file handles. With the help of the Watches Graph, it is possible to detect temporary peaks, to find resource leaks and to monitor the general resource behavior of an application and thus making it easier to improve performance and reduce resource usage.

The new SmartInspect version can be ordered directly from Gurock Software's website for $299 (US) per developer. Registered customers can upgrade to the new version for a generously discounted update fee. A 45-day fully functional trial version is available for download.
