INTERNET MOSAIC MODEL PROVES POPULAR

(Vancouver, Canada – February 27, 2007) A new website that offers a unique blend of free advertising and social networking is taking off, according to its founder, Bruce Whitehead, president of Island Media, Ltd. The Internet Mosaic (http://internetmosaic.com/) was launched a month ago, and is climbing through the global website rankings at a rapid pace,” says Whitehead, whose company owns a number of top-ranked webmaster- related sites such as TrafficZap.com and AlternateURL.com.

“The Mosaic is a unique site,” explains Whitehead. “I don’t think there has been anything quite like it before. It’s all about getting traffic for free and having fun at the same time.”

Loosely modeled on the recent “pixel” marketing phenomenon, InternetMosaic.com is essentially a page loaded with small images that link to customized pages that their owners can use to promote whatever they want. Mosaic members can link to their sites, discuss their offers through a convenient blog feature, create and moderate discussions on topics of interest, or even plug in their RSS feeds to publish remote content for free.

“There are quite a few ways you can use the Mosaic to your advantage,” continues Whitehead. “Many of our members have brick and mortar businesses, while others have affiliate sites, eBay stores or myspace pages, or other content they can plug into their Mosaic pages.”

Whitehead says the idea came to him one day when he was viewing an online photo album.

“I thought about a public photo album that linked back to each picture’s author, and it sort of went from there. It took quite a while to flesh out the concept and program all the code.”

To launch the site, Whitehead added Mosaic listings for a few other sites in the Island Media fold and linked back to them. That kick-start caused enough momentum to get the Mosaic rolling through cyberspace.

“It’s been amazing to see how fast it’s growing,” he says. “We’re already getting hundreds of visitors every day, who generate thousands of page views and lots of new member registrations. And it’s only been live for a month.”

Whitehead says one of the most important features of the site is that it’s fun to use. Emails from users attest to that fact, and online comments show that the concept is proving popular.

“It’s actually a lot of fun to surf the Internet Mosaic,” admits Whitehead. “Sometimes I find myself cruising around when I ought to be working.”

With additional refinements, including new search features and more user services in the works, Whitehead says the InternetMosaic.com is geared for continued growth.

“You never really know, no matter what research you do, if a new concept is going to fly on the Web,” he says. “Sometimes you get lucky and pick a winner. I think that’s what may have happened this time.”
