Article 13.com and EthicalSuperStore.com launch discount offer to promote FairTrade.

February 28, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Article 13, the leading specialist advisors in governance, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development have teamed up with ethical retailer EthicalSuperStore.com offering a discount on goods purchased until the end of Fairtrade Fortnight – 11th March.

Fairtrade Fortnight is the annual push to raise awareness and sales of Fairtrade products. It begins on February 26th. With Fairtrade sales topping £200million in 2006 and with a brand recognition of 50% you might think there’s not much more to do. But you’d be wrong. Once the problem was that no one had heard of Fairtrade – the problem today is that while most people have heard of it, it still only represents a tiny fraction of the purchases we all make. Two things tend make buying Fairtrade difficult – personal taste and lack of availability.

However you like your coffee there will be a Fairtrade coffee to suit your needs. The same is not true in sectors – fresh products like grapes are limited to one or two varieties. If you happen not to like those you’re faced with a choice between ethics and taste. You can also find loads of Fairtrade t-shirts for £15-20 but try finding a kids t-shirt that competes with Asda’s £2 entry point?

As for availability, again you can get Fairtrade coffee from Starbucks, AMT or Costa, but what about Fairtrade juice?

Article 13 and Ethical Superstore are offering £5 off if you spend £20 or more, available to all new customers on the Ethical Superstore.Com website, from now until the end of Fairtrade Fortnight – 11th March. Simply enter code X5A13F on the payment page to get your discount.

Wherever possible we make the Fairtrade choice, ensuring that we are living our values throughout our organisation as well as making a positive change for the lives of millions and farmers in developing countries.
