AMERICA’S SMARTEST MAGAZINE SELLS COVER AS AD

March 02, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Bald Ego’s goes wild with the first magazine in history to sell the cover as an ad. Bohemian businessman Andy Spade ‘bought’ the cover and converted Bald into a commercial readymade with JACK SPADE where the logo should be, adding the magazine to a number of businesses the savvy men’s accessories brand has slapped its name on. And in fact the new Bald Ego documents the whole Jack Spade commercial readymade project, with photos of the Jack Spade bar, art galleries, pizza parlor and more. In addition to Jack Spade, Bald Ego is supported by 20 pages of advertising.

Inside, the Ego’s editors put together a sellout issue: an explosive mix of hot art, sexy photographs, eloquent prose and tasty poetry, from Richard Prince, Tom Sachs, Sante D'Orazio, Phillip Taaffe, James Salter, Don Van Vliet, Jeremy Blake, John Lurie, Duncan Hannah, Elizabeth Peyton, Jane Dickson, Fred Tomaselli, Charlene von Heyl, Jack Pierson, McDermott & McGough, Todd Eberle, Keith Sonnier, Gary Indiana, Elias Khoury, Dike Blair, Stephen Frailey, Lloyd Ziff, Andrew Brucker, Justen Ladda, Sam Matamoros, Linda St.John, Julie King, Gerard Malanga, John Stravinsky, Theresa Duncan, Jim Gilroy, Adrian Dannatt, August Kleinzahler, Hooman Majd, Davitt Sigerson and many others. Bald Ego delivers “truth and beauty by any means necessary.”

Bald Ego is distributed by D.A.P,. Ubiquity and Ingram: on sale in better bookstores and magazine stores everywhere. 292 pages, $15.00 per copy.
