Bandon, OR —March 2, 2007— Bandon Oregon, has gained notoriety over the past several years as home to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Now the television show “Good Morning America” plans on announcing the small ocean retreat as “One of the Top 5 Places to Retire.”

The news began this week as a rumor, spreading through the town of 2,300 residents like the brushfire that destroyed the town in 1938. Vicki Gernandt, Real Estate Broker at Bandon Land Office explains, “Last week we heard that Bandon, Oregon, was going to be listed this year as ‘One of the Top 5 Places to Retire’. It is exciting!” Vicki Gernandt, or “VickiG” as she is known around town, has lived in Bandon her whole life. Vicki has owned a popular salon in town called VickiG’s Salon, so she is no stranger to rumors. “Our secret is out! Seriously, no one who lives in Bandon or who has ever traveled through Bandon would dispute that this is one of the most special places in the World.”

Matt Winkel, the City Manager of Bandon, mentions the honor-to-be in his newsletter published on the town’s website. He writes, “A report is prepared annually by the Corcoran Group, one of the nations largest real estate firms, which lists the top five places in the United States to retire. Announcement of the study results is scheduled for the morning of March 7, 2007, On ABC’s Good Morning America Program.”

Before the Golf Resort opened, Bandon was known for fishing, timber and tourism. Bandon Dunes Golf Resort (www.bandondunesgolf.com) has been a large draw to this area since the resort first opened in 1999. The Resort’s Design Team invested significant amounts of time and money into making Bandon, Oregon, the sought-after destination it has become. One of the new projects for the Bandon Dunes Design Team is a highly appointed Development named Bandon Commons (www.bandoncommons.com). The project will be built in 3 Phases and Phase 1 construction is well underway.
