Skateboarding is undeniably one of the ‘most wanted’ skills to have as a young boy or girl. Unlike team sports, action sports such as skateboarding have an embedded lifestyle that 58 million adoring young Americans respect. That is why in December 2006, professional skateboarder and teacher to thousands of beginning skateboarders, Dan MacFarlane released “Skateboarding Explained” the DVD. MacFarlane is expecting a release in May 2007 to all mainstream outlets in response to rave reviews from the core skateboarding market.

Young people want nothing more than to be noticed, independent, yet accepted and “cool.” Parents want nothing more than their kids to be healthy, happy and active. Skateboarding is an expressive sport, art and lifestyle that meets all of these desires. However, the safety precautions involved in skateboarding tend to be intimidating by many parents and kids. Many believe that the ‘self-taught’ aspect of the beginning stages in skateboarding is risky and uncontained. That is why professional skateboarder Dan MacFarlane made “Skateboarding Explained” the instructional DVD. Now there is a way for beginner’s of all ages to learn the fundamental basics, gradually and safely. Skateboarding Explained is the first-ever ‘how-to’ video to come from an experienced skateboarding teacher.

Other skateboarding ‘how-to’ videos feature instructors that might be the best skateboarders in the world but aren’t necessarily the best teachers. Dan MacFarlane has taught thousands of people, ages 4 through 51, how to skateboard. After he mastered a unique teaching system at Van’s skateboarding camps and Camp Woodward, MacFarlane formatted it for video so that he could teach people all over the world how to safely and effectively start to be the best skateboarder they can.

The ‘Skateboarding Explained’ system equips beginners with an instant and extensive foundation. Teaching everything from simple terms of the skateboard and how to stand, to the fundamental basics of ramp and street skating, MacFarlane leaves no beginner behind by highlighting the most overlooked details. With the release to mainstream retail outlets in May, new summer ‘shredders’ are sure to be creatively developing tricks of expression with their new equipped grasp of the board.
