The Cotswold Perfumery To Run One-day Workshops

Many of us are reminded of our mothers whenever we smell her favourite scent. Now there is a unique opportunity to create a perfume which will be even more individual to her – one that she can design especially for herself. The Cotswold Perfumery is running one-day workshops with their Artisan Perfumer, John Stephen - a perfect gift for this Mothers’ Day.

Gift vouchers can be purchased for mothers, or mother and daughter can choose to spend a very special day together enjoying each other’s company and sharing a unique experience.

This fascinating day takes place in the impressive laboratories of the Cotswold Perfumery, in the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Starting at
9.15 am and running through to 4.00 pm the day costs £99 per person and includes lunch, tea and coffee breaks and a 25ml bottle of the scent you have created. Run with a maximum of ten participants individual attention is given throughout.

Following a walk around the perfume garden to experience essential oils in their natural state, there is then a lesson on how perfumes are classified into groups. After the chance to compare oils produced by various extraction methods and appreciate the basic theory of perfume creation, it’s time to put the theory into practice. Blending your own perfume from the range of oils supplied, there is a choice of using some of the best materials available in the world.

The day also teaches us how to develop and become more aware of our own sense of smell - the most highly attuned of all the senses. Having designed a unique perfume, chances are, your mother will want to wear it forever as her own distinctive signature. The Cotswold Perfumery will keep details of her secret formula on record, so that she, or a family member can re-order further bottles at a later date.
