Vierling at CeBIT

March 04, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Ebermannstadt, Germany. Vierling Measurement Solutions will present new test equipment for DSL and broadband networks as well as IP-based services at CeBIT (Hanover, Germany, March 15 - 21, Hall 13, Booth B58). The company’s Mobile Communication division will present applications allowing integration of GSM mobile radio, the fixed network and Internet telephony (VoIP) along with some new analog GSM gateways. Vierling is focusing its CeBIT booth on the transition from classic time division multiplexing (TDM) networks to the new next generation networks (NGN) plus the increasing convergence of mobile radio, the fixed network and VoIP.

Test equipment for high-speed Internet and IP-based services
Vierling’s street cabinet scanner is helping to facilitate a smooth transition to high-speed VDSL2 Internet service in ten major German cities. The device reads out the switching settings from the old passive street cabinets so the settings can be transferred quickly without any errors to the new automatic cross-connects. Once VDSL2 is introduced, a new member of the VIT DSL tester family will help to localize problems on individual connections. Service technicians can use the VIT-V2 to read out the most important measurement results at a glance. The TiQoS test platform (Testing in Quality of Service) is used to assess the quality of new services transported via broadband Internet connections. The new applications TiQoS.InternetAccess and TiQoS.Video allow network and service providers to determine the quality of Internet access and video streaming using a carrier-class system that is tailored to their professional needs.

Integration of mobile radio, the fixed network and VoIP
Vierling’s Mobile Communication division will present some mobile integration applications based on Ecotel GSM gateways. Thanks to partnerships with industry leaders, the Vierling GSM gateways are capable of integrating employee mobile phones as full-featured mobile extensions into existing PBX infrastructures in a cost-effective manner. One benefit of the convergence of mobile radio, the fixed network and Internet telephony is that companies are gaining access to effective, easy to implement alternatives to DECT.

New analog GSM gateways
Vierling Mobile Communication is also presenting for the first time the concept of a new analog GSM gateway that allows cost-effective calls between the fixed network and mobile radio. Ecotel GSM3-3x will have all of the functionality needed for effective least cost routing. Vierling is also presenting the new Ecotel GSM3-2x analog mobile radio adapter at CeBIT. This device allows direct connection of telephones, fax machines and answering machines to a GSM network. With Ecotel GSM3-2x, Vierling is targeting markets in Eastern Europe, Asia and South America in particular.

Vierling focuses on NGN and convergence
“In our Measurement Solutions division, we are concentrating on high-speed Internet access and triple play services”, said Wolfgang Peter, managing director of Vierling. “This puts Vierling in a good position vis-à-vis the transition from TDM networks to next generation networks (NGN). The Mobile Communication division is focusing on the convergence of mobile radio, the conventional fixed network and VoIP. Thanks to our solid partners, we are able to offer mobile integration solutions that significantly boost employee productivity at a low cost.”
