Locomotive service and repair facilities are an integral part of Class I and shortline railroad operations, and meeting environmental rules and regulations is a major concern. Century Group has developed and perfected railroad spill collection and containment systems to meet the diverse needs of Storm Water Pollution Prevention plans, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems and the myriad of stringent environmental protection measures such as the national SPCC regulations.

According to Century Group President, Rusty Vincent, the railroad products division has installed numerous spill control and containment systems across the nation. Their patented system, HDPE Enviropans, was developed specifically to aid locomotive service and repair centers, railcar washdown facilities, and rail transloading racks in complying with the complicated and tough environmental protection rules and regulations. Specifically for railroad service centers, Century’s HDPE Enviropans were designed to work with conventional or direct fixation track on steel, wood or concrete ties. The Enviropans are built to withstand the chemicals and pollutants that are specific to locomotive service and repair facilities, with the availability of additional cleanout ports that help prevent clogging of discharge drain pipes. Furthermore, Century’s customer service and support is second to none, with demonstrated design, engineering and construction expertise that has raised their level of credibility in the railroad spill and containment market.

Century Group began its business in 1942 when its founder developed the concept of precast steps, a process which Century has refined and patented over the years. Since then, Century has diversified and now produces a full line of concrete architectural and industrial products. Commercial and residential construction projects including concrete stair treads, concrete buildings, columns, countertops, wall panels, pipeline weights and supports, and much, much more. Recently, considerable efforts have also been aimed at the construction of concrete signage for the OSHA VPP Star Worksite program to help companies publicize their achievements in providing safe and healthy workplaces for its employees.

With almost 65 years of experience in the precast concrete manufacturing industry, Century has continued to be aggressive in its product development efforts. Continuing its legacy of innovation and superior service, Century Group Inc. enters the new millennium as a working partner with architects, engineers, industry and contractors by providing innovative solutions to meet their specific project needs.
