Indianapolis, Indiana – (March 7, 2007) – Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity member Jeffrey Schmidt's body was found on March 1, 2007, after being missing since a fatal motor vehicle accident on November 19, 2006, in the North Umpqua River.

On November 19, 2006, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity member Jeffrey Schmidt and Delta Gamma Sorority member Quinn Do Truong were involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident.

Schmidt and Truong were returning from on off-campus fraternity and sorority event to Oregon State University when their vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the North Umpqua River.

Truong’s body was recovered from the wreck when the vehicle was discovered on November 21, 2006. After extensive search efforts, Schmidt’s body was eventually found on March 1, 2007, approximately 1.5 miles downstream from the November 19th wreck.

Oregon Department of Wildlife employees found the body and turned it over to the authorities, who identified the body as Schmidt’s by matching dental records that were supplied by his family.

Schmidt was a great son, a gifted athlete, and a faithful brother of Lambda Chi Alpha who will be missed by all that knew him. The heartfelt condolences of the Lambda Chi Alpha International Headquarters go out to Schmidt’s family and to our members at Oregon State University.

Lambda Chi Alpha has initiated more than 250,000 members and expanded to more than 300 campuses since its founding in 1909. Further questions should be directed to Director of Chapter Services John Holloway at (317) 833-6086 or visit www.lambdachi.org.
