Babylon nG hits UK and makes calls secure

March 10, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
The first voice encryption software designed solely for use with 3G, EDGE and GPRS mobile phones has been launched in the UK. Babylon nG removes the threat of ‘tapping’ into conversations made on mobile phones by using digital technology that is twice as secure as that used by online banking services.

The software means an end to the bulky handsets and time delays traditionally associated with voice encryption. Particular attention has been paid to ensure that voice quality is maintained at 3G levels.

Babylon nG is designed to be used on handsets running Symbian OS 8 and 9, Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

Using Babylon nG does not limit the use of the handset and when encryption is not needed it can be used as any other, making standard voice calls, sending texts or surfing the web.

Available from BSure Technology, Babylon nG has been developed with partner company, Safe-com, the German software company. Safe-com specialises in telecom encryption technologies and the new software has undergone 12 months of intensive testing before being released.

Babylon nG uses a network’s GPRS data channels and it can also use wi-fi for VOIP connections. It is possible to use securely when travelling abroad.

nG is part of the Babylon product suite, which includes hardware and software for encryption across different telecommunication platforms. This total solution means as well as mobile-to-mobile encrypted conversations, calls can remain encrypted when made from mobile to suitable equipped landlines and VOIP enabled desktops. Using nG makes VOIP totally secure.

Hassan Djafer, director of BSure Technology, believes that Babylon is a valuable business tool: “Every business has sensitive issues that need discussion. Meetings are not always feasible and communication by mobile and landline can be susceptible to ‘tapping’ or hacking. Simply making the call via the Babylon application means that the conversation remains totally secure.

“The strength of nG’s encryption, means that it uses 256K bit technology with a 1024K bit key exchange compared with the normal 128K of online banking services. An added security benefit is that each time a call is made, the encryption key changes so making it impossible to unlock the signal.”

“Conversations are seamless and the option to use GPRS or wi-fi means that nG is cost-effective to use. The application sits in the background so that making and receiving encrypted calls is quick and easy.”
