Washington, D.C. – Metro DC PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) today unveiled the names of honorees for its upcoming 10th Annual Honors Gala and Silent Auction titled “Creating a World for Families.”

The 10th Annual Metro DC PFLAG Gala and Silent Auction will be held on March 24, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

This year’s honorees include:

SPOTLIGHT AWARD
Doug Spearman/actor: A native of Washington, D.C., Spearman is an accomplished actor and can be seen currently as a mainstay cast member on “Noah’s Arc,” a TV series that airs on the LOGO Network. “Noah’s Arc” explores the daily lives of four African-American gay men in Los Angeles, through their relationships with their friends and lovers.

CORPORATE AWARD
Morris-Day Architects: A residential design and construction company based in Arlington, Va., Morris-Day is the recipient of this year’s Corporate Award. Rob Morris, president of Morris-Day, initiated the Metro DC PFLAG Annual Gala and has continued to be a leader not only specializing in designing and building homes in historic, once-neglected neighborhoods, but also building societal bridges for PFLAG throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

FAITH IN ACTION AWARD
People of Faith for Equality in Virginia: People of Faith – and supporting congregations including the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington and the Jewish Community Relations Council – will be honored for their tremendous effort in leading opposition to Virginia’s constitutional amendment on marriage.

“Each year Metro DC PFLAG honors individuals, companies and organizations that contribute to our mission with enthusiasm,” said Lindy Garnette, executive director of Metro DC PFLAG. “Our honorees represent the wonderful diversity of our society today and a strong sense of commitment and creativity with which we are all keeping families together.”

Master of Ceremonies will be Peter DiMuro, an internationally acclaimed artist and the artistic director of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.

Entertainment will be provided by Simone Denny, powerhouse diva – known by millions as the dynamic voice behind the theme song to “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”

Previous honorees include singer/song writer Cyndi Lauper, actress Thea Gill and Kimpton Hotels, as well as Reverends John Mack and Barbara Gerlach of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
