Three sons of former basketball greats, all featured in the book HoopDaddy, are coaching their teams in the NCAA Tournament.

John Thompson III is the third-year head coach at Georgetown where his Hoyas are the No. 2 seed in the East Region. Thompson, his brother Ronny (now head coach at Ball State) and their Hall of Famer father John Thompson Jr. comprise a chapter in HoopDaddy by Lee Feinswog.

The West Regional first-round matchup between third-seeded Washington State and 14th-seeded Oral Roberts pits two coaches whose families appear in the book. WSU's Tony Bennett took over the job from his father Dick Bennett. A chapter about them and Tony's sister, Kathi (former head coach at Indiana), is in HoopDaddy. So, too, is one about the Suttons, including ORU coach Scott Sutton, whose father Eddie retired last year as coach at Oklahoma State and was replaced by his brother, Sean.

Another coach from HoopDaddy, Tubby Smith, will lead Kentucky into the tournament as the No. 8 seed in the West Regional. Smith coached both his sons, G.G. while he was at Georgia and Saul at Kentucky.

Author Lee Feinswog is a columnist for Tiger Rag and a writer for USA Today. He also is the host and producer of Sports Monday, a weekly live TV show in Baton Rouge, La.

Retired LSU basketball coach Dale Brown: "HoopDaddy is a novel idea and takes a refreshing look at sports figures as fathers and sons. A unique approach makes HoopDaddy a good read." (quote from the back cover of HoopDaddy.)
