OPTIMIZED CONTENT WITH RSS FEEDS IMPROVES SEARCH ENGINE VISIBLITY

With Google now indexing over eight billion webpages, search engine visibility is vital. One way to increase your rankings and get found when people do a search, is to add optimized content to your website and syndicate it with an RSS feed.

The Pew Internet & American Life Project found 6 million Americans read RSS feeds and the recent Slashdot study says 73 percent intend to increase their use of RSS this year.

Feed Burner reports that readership of their feeds is increasing by one percent a day.

“Whether or not to use RSS on your site should no longer be an option,” says Paul Scrivens of Business Logs, a company that brings the power of weblogs, wikis, and other online collaboration tools to organizations. “I believe it has become a necessity if you wish to compete with others in your industry.”

”Marketing and PR people are the one’s most interested in search engine visibility,” says Sally Falkow, who developed PRESSfeed to meet the needs of clients.

“To get better search results you need to generate optimized content, add news and updates to the website and syndicate it in a feed. It doesn’t make sense to put content only in a feed – it has to go on your site as well.”

“Up till now marketing and PR people have had to either outsource this function or stand in line for their IT department to set it up,” says Falkow. “What they wanted was an affordable, simple to use service that uploads their content and puts it into a feed.”

With PRESSfeed the content is placed on the client’s website in fully branded pages and then it goes in a feed.

Once your content is syndicated, it finds its way to other websites that begin to regrad your feed as a news source. Case studies show that businesses get a sharp increase in qualified traffic once they put good content on their site and syndicate it.

“With PRESSfeed you can create five areas on your site that can be updated regularly,” explains Falkow. “This increases your search engine visibility and the fact that each area has an RSS feed will increase your traffic.”
