Professional Decal Application Association Opens Membership to Vinyl Installers

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – March 2007 – The Professional Decal Application Association, or PDAA, is inviting vinyl installers at all levels of expertise to join its once-exclusive ranks. The invitation marks a major shift in the non-profit association’s membership strategy and creates an organization that fosters further industry development, education and training, networking opportunities and a sense of community.

“If you apply vinyl, regardless of your current level of expertise, we encourage you to join the PDAA. We want to be your bridge to the future,” said PDAA Founder Nathan Franzblau. “Our goal is to bring together installers under one roof, one trade association so we can help vinyl installers build a strong foundation of application and business skills.”

The PDAA has established three membership levels under its new paradigm to ensure the same high standards for which the organization has always been recognized: General, Basic Certified and Master Certified. The General level requires at least three references from customers for whom the installer has completed vinyl installations, a pledge to follow the installation procedures prescribed in the PDAA VIP Certification Documentation, an agreement to abide by the Rules of Conduct set forth by the PDAA Board of Directors, and $200 in annual dues. The Basic Certified level membership includes all the requirements of the General level, plus an agreement to employ at all times at least one individual who has passed the PDAA VIP Basic Certification Proficiency exams and $400 in annual dues.

Finally, the Master Certified level membership includes stricter requirements that not only include mandates of General membership, but also call for at least three references from people for whom they have completed vinyl installations: one from an existing PDAA member in good standing, one from a customer, and one from a film or graphic manufacturer. Further, Master Certified level members must also provide a certificate of insurance for workman’s compensation on all employees as required by the states in which the member provides installation, a certificate of liability insurance with $1 million minimum coverage, an approval by a majority vote of the PDAA Board of Directors and $600 in annual dues. Applications are available online at www.pdaa.com.

“Our concept is to welcome all installers regardless of their current skill levels,” says Rob Ivers, a member of the PDAA Board of Directors member and veteran vinyl installer. “The hope is membership and participation in our organization will allow each installer to hone their skills, build industry relationships, grow their businesses, and attain certifications when they are ready and able.”

ABOUT PDAA
The Professional Decal Application Association, or PDAA, was founded in 1976 by the owners of eight independent vinyl installation companies with the intent to learn from each other and to network on large nationwide installation projects. Over the years the non-profit association has grown in numbers, professionalism, and strength. Today, some of the nation’s finest vinyl installation companies, including vehicle wrappers and fleet graphics installers, are PDAA members.
