Caffeine Nights Publishing introduces a new form of fiction…Chick Noir

March 23, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Author Darren E Laws has his second novel ‘Tripping’ published on April 10. Tripping is the first book to be published by Caffeine Nights Publishing. Tripping is a modern day fable which Darren’s publishers call ‘Chick lit with a dark side’ and they have now coined a new phrase to describe the book; Chick Noir.

“Darren usually writes dark edgy thrillers and when he produced this book we saw that he brought a little of the noir to chick lit, maybe Chick Noir is the real category for Tripping.” Natalie Byrne, Marketing spokesperson for Caffeine Nights Publishing, said.

Whether Chick lit with a dark side or Chic Noir, Tripping looks set to establish itself in a market that often deals with the lighter side of life.

“Tripping is a black comedy, there is humour and there is a definite surreal edge to it, hence the title. The title is a play on words though; the story is of four girls whose lives are suddenly altered by an event that happened to them at university ten years previously. Tripping is also an allegory for stumbling and making the wrong decisions.” Darren E Laws said.

Chick Noir could be the result of living in modern times where almost overnight a new generation of readers has had to grow up quickly. Caffeine Nights Publishing certainly believe that the time is right to produce a brand of fiction that has an element of escapism that also carries a healthy dose of 21st century realism.

Tripping

Tripping is a surreal black comedy drama that looks at the lives of four friends and how the ripple effect of an event at university comes back to haunt them over a decade later. Samantha arrives in London for a reunion with three university friends, but she is hiding a secret with a ten-year history that has touched and irrevocably changed the lives of her friends, even if they don’t quite know it yet.

The story charts the lives of the four girls who at university have the world at their feet. Ten years later they have become women searching for the most elusive of dreams…happiness.
A modern fable that explores the complexities of life’s most intricate paradox, balancing the mundane world of shattered dreams with secrets, lies and deception.

Tripping is a step into a modern day wonderland. The events of a hot summer week in May during their reunion will change their lives forever.
Tripping is available in paperback
RRP: £7.99
