SEATTLE—March 24, 2007—Recognizing Destination Lighting’s commitment to “promoting environmental protection through energy efficient lighting,” the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy are awarding the company the Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Lighting Retailing. The honor was announced yesterday at the Energy Star® Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

“Protecting the environment is a major priority for us and we are so proud that the EPA is recognizing our efforts,” says Dave McKee, Chief Operating Officer. “With one of the most complete high efficacy product catalogues available, we are fast becoming the specialty shop for energy efficient lighting and information on the Web.”

Indeed, Destination Lighting is making it both easy and affordable to “go green.” The company offers a host of Energy Star® and energy efficient bulbs and fixtures—often at the same price as traditional, energy expending products. It is also introducing the revolutionary Socket Lockit®, which can permanently transform most incandescent fixtures into energy efficient light sources quickly and easily. All of Destination Lighting’s Energy Star® products and the Socket Lockit® meet California’s Title 24 regulations for energy efficiency, and a new line of outdoor compact fluorescent lights will comply with Washington State’s upcoming CFL mandate (set to go into effect in July).

Destination Lighting realizes that energy efficient products make sense not just environmentally, but practically. Products such as the Energy Star® Motion Sensor Fluorescent Ceiling Fixture turn on automatically when someone enters the room, and off when they exit. Ideal for laundry rooms, basements, attics, pantries, closets and children’s rooms, these lights provide safety, convenience and energy savings simultaneously. Likewise, outdoor lights with photocells instantly illuminate when the sun sets and shut off at sunrise, enabling safe passage to and from your house at night and creating the illusion that someone is always at home. Photocells are built into many of the products Destination Lighting sells and are also sold separately so that, as with the Socket Lockit®, most fixtures can be converted into energy conserving lights.

Offering world class fixtures and design expertise, DestinationLighting.com features more than 4,000 products—including many exclusive items not found anywhere else—and offers free shipping on every order in the contiguous United States. Because Destination Lighting stocks more than $10 million in inventory, over 80 percent of the products are in stock and ready to ship the next business day.
