LOUISVILLE, KY – Louisville glass artist Ché Rhodes is one of 20 clay and glass artists whose work will be included in an art exhibition that celebrates the artistic connection between clay and glass at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio March 9 through April 20.

The exhibit is one of several dozen planned in conjunction with the annual art conference of the National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts (NCECA) at the Louisville International Convention Center. As many as 7,000 artists are expected to attend the conference, “Old Currents/New Blends: A Distillation of Art and Geography.” The conference is from March 14 through March 17.

The show will include the work of 10 glass artists and 10 ceramic artists who graduated from the Tyler School of Art between 1996 and 2006. Rhodes graduated from Tyler in 1998.

“Ceramics and art glass come from the same beginnings, and they both use fire to create beauty,” said Flame Run co-owner Brook Forrest White Jr. “As Louisville’s premier art glass gallery we recognize the creativity and beauty of ceramic art as well as glass art.”

Flame Run gallery will host a reception in connection with the Tyler alumni exhibit from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 16. The glass art gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the NCECA conference.
