HostSearch Adds Social Networking and Bookmarking Icons to Pages

March 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – In recognition of their increasing importance, it was announced today that HostSearch.com (http://www.hostsearch.com) has added a number of icons to its pages that link to some the Internet’s most popular social networking and bookmarking sites. The icons and links have been set up in such a way that all the information about a page a HostSearch visitor wants to make comment on (URL, title, etc.) is available once redirected. Visitors need only login to a particular site to bookmark or review a HostSearch item.

“HostSearch is a commercial website, and like any other commercial site, our screen real estate is valuable and has to be maximized,” explained Web Editor John Hughes. “But over the last year or so we found our website statistics showing more and more referrals from websites such as Del.icio.us, Digg.com, and StumbleUpon.com. It also became clear that RSS feeds are an extremely popular means of managing information from the Internet. Recognizing that, it became clear we needed to add icons and links to popular sites to ensure that for our visitors, bookmarking and commenting on our news items and stories was as convenient as possible. We have had no choice really – these sites really have taken over from people’s browser “favorites” lists!”

Based on the information available in their website statistics, HostSearch decided to add icons and links to Google (reader), Yahoo! Myweb, Del.icio.us, Digg, StumbleUpon and also added a link to Blink.com. “Some of these icons and links could be taken off in the future, likewise, others could be added – it just depends on feedback from our visitors; which they think are useful and which they think could be more useful,” added Mr. Hughes. “It is just another service we have added to ensure our visitors get the best possible experience from our site,” he concluded.
