April 1, 2007, Fredericksburg, VA—On February 19, GovernmentVAR magazine ranked Acolyst, a Fredericksburg, VA-based COTS integration company, as thirteenth in its list of 25 leading Small Federal Contractors.

The magazine acknowledged Acolyst for its superior ability “to compete for a slice of the federal contracting pie and win.” Acolyst earned this recognition in part because of its innovative solution center, opened in October, which allows potential clients to physically work with and test solutions prototypes prior to purchase.

In 2006, Lawrence M. Walsh, the editor of GovernmentVAR and VARBusiness Magazine, said, “Next year the federal government is going to spend $64 billion on IT goods and services, but they are not putting out RFP’s for point products, they are looking for solutions. What they want is practical applications that save all of us money.”

Acolyst operates as far more than a small, disadvantaged business, providing these practical solutions and earning its ranking among the top small federal contractors in the United States. According the article’s author, Jill Aitoro, “These are 25 small businesses that act like anything but. And that may very well be the secret to their success.”
