grand opening on Wednesday 18th April at 20.00

NABABOOM will be inaugurated on Wednesday 18th April at 20.00 after the “Dynasty” conference with Nicoletta Morozzi, Lorenza Branzi and La Pina, a meeting that forms part of “Wednesdays at NABA”. a regular series of lectures and cultural debates.

A patchwork of illuminated tents will be installed throughout NABA’s Campus. Each one will become an original mini- exhibition space containing different projects. The exhibition, conceived by Soup Studio, is the starting point for the “parasitic” projects developed by the students and designers at NABA.

“Parasitic Design” is a project that lives by sucking energy from another existing system, modifying, distorting or amplifying its function. The students from NABA’s different departments will make a series of presentations on this theme, while their colleagues from Central St. Martins will present their project Notebook Salone 08 as well as the workshop “My - Bag from Claystation ” (www.claystation.org) the Milan section of a series of international events leading to the development of a global tote bag. Our guests will be invited to design the contents of their own bag.

The entire campus will be transformed into an urban festival with illuminated tents, digital experiments and local and international guests that further contribute with projects on the theme of “parasites” applied to design.

In honour of these events, NABA’s Open Day will also take place on the 19th and 20th April from 10.00 to 18.00. The Academy will be open to the public and some design workshops will be available for visitors to actively participate in the Parasitic Design project.

From 20 to 22 April NABA hosts “Nastro Livedesign: the design you have in mind” an event promoted by NASTRO AZZURRO and INTERNI, organised by METAFLOW. Well established designers as well as the young hopefuls from the Italian design scene, artists and performers, beside young creatives, debate how to make design a real experience with an interactive exchange of possible scenarios and solutions. There will be daily workshops with a maximum of 7 students from the various Milan design schools, who will have the opportunity to briefly collaborate with some of the most prestigious names in Italian design, as well as meet other design students from all over the world.

Among the designers involved are Nicoletta Morozzi, Alessandro Guerriero, Diego Grandi, Cliostraat, Peter Bottazzi and Ciboh.

The design projects that will emerge during the day will contribute to the creation of an exhibition
space that will continue to transform and grow. Each evening there will be a party with music, interactive performances and video installations
