Historic Wilmington Foundation Home Tour 2007

The Historic Wilmington Foundation announces the 2007 Home Tour, an annual fundraising event during Wilmington’s Azalea Festival. Nine wonderful and inviting homes will be open to the public for tour this year, Saturday and Sunday, April 14th and 15th from 1 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at all local Harris Teeter stores, The Ivy Cottage, the Azalea Festival Office located at 5725 Oleander Drive, the Historic Wilmington Foundation, 516 North 4th Street, and at each home site the days of the tour.

Each home has been selected for its individual charm and architectural or historic significance and the collection of homes will appeal to everyone. The following homeowners have graciously opened their homes during this time.

2. Pinner House - 615 South 2nd Street - Gene Wichmann
3. Latimer-Waddell House - 218 South 3rd Street - Lynn McIntyre
4. Holladay-Whitehead House - 401 South 3rd Street - Linda & Bunky Bruce
5. Burriss-Bunn House - 420 Wright Street - Paul D’Angelo
6. Goolsby Home - 102 South 5th Street - Thomas & Rachael Goolsby
7. South’n France - 822 Orange Street - Charlene Dupray & Pascal Siegler
8. Albert L. Doscher House - 1906 Princess Street - David & Julie Frederiksen
9. Leake Home - 20 Forest Hills Drive - Sam & Lynn Leake

The Home Tour will kick off with a celebrity ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th at the Runge-Fales House, 311 South 5th Avenue, now owned by Jack & Barbara McPhail. Middle and McDaniel Restaurant and Creamery will serve ice cream following the ribbon cutting. Please join the Historic Wilmington Foundation on April 14th and 15th and experience the architectural and design appeal of these homes across many of Wilmington’s wonderful historic neighborhoods. All proceeds from the Home Tour will benefit the Historic Wilmington Foundation’s efforts towards protecting and preserving the irreplaceable historic resources of Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear region. Since its formation in 1966, the Historic Wilmington Foundation has successfully saved over 200 historic properties from demolition. Our mission is to continue promoting historic preservation in the community through educational programs, exhibits, community involvement and revolving fund activities.
