Crossover Translation Comes to Russia

A new service has appeared on the Russian translation market that will allow Russian translation agencies to compete with western ones. The Exprimo international interpreting and translation company has begun to offer crossover translation, which is foreign-language-to-foreign-language translation. It’s a novelty for many clients.

Exprimo began offering crossover translation soon after the company’s founding, primarily at its European branch. However, for objective reasons we only recently decided to announce the new service. We noticed that demand was growing for crossover translation though not many translation agencies were providing it.

Who needs crossover translation? For example, if a foreign company whose main office is in New York or London has a branch office in Russia, by turning to Exprimo it won’t need to have documents translated into Russian and then from Russian into another foreign language. Exprimo’s translators are prepared to translate documents from one foreign language directly into another.

For example, we can translate documentation from German into English or from English into Italian.

As with traditional translation from/into Russian, English tends to be one of the languages. The subject matter can be diverse and touch upon many spheres: advertising, real estate, the Internet, etc.

Of course, crossover translation is not cheap, as specialists who can do it are worth their weight in gold. They are typically native speakers of one of the two foreign languages. Nevertheless crossover translation at Exprimo is less expensive then if you had a translation done abroad or ordered a double translation at a Russian translation agency.

Dmitri Beloshapkin, General Director of Exprimo, says, “In Europe, crossover translation would cost you 35-60 euros, whereas in our company the price of the service will start at 27 euros. The prices on the service are lower than in Europe mainly because of Russia’s simpler taxation system. This is why we are able to offer high quality translations that meet international translation standards”

As already noted above, crossover translation demands that the translator and editor have special linguistic training. Exprimo’s translators preserve the emotional component, stylistics and lexical/grammatical peculiarities of the original text in the translation. Proper selection of only the best specialists for crossover translation makes it possible to guarantee an invariably top-notch result.
