Cincinnati Bell Wireless Launches Wireless Coverage Locator Powered by SpatialPoint

April 07, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
CINCINNATI – March 27, 2007 – Cincinnati Bell (NYSE:CBB) customers can use the Web to quickly determine if the Cincinnati Bell Wireless network is able to meet their calling needs. Made available through Cincinnati Bell Wireless’ partnership with SpatialPoint, the recently launched wireless coverage locator allows current and prospective customers to enter any address, such as their home or office, to learn what quality of signal strength is available in the defined location.

“We’re very proud to be the hometown company and market share leader of wireless phone service,” said Mike Vanderwoude, vice president and general manager of Cincinnati Bell Wireless. “For the second year in a row, an independent study confirmed that our network is the best in Greater Cincinnati and Dayton. By teaming up with SpatialPoint to provide a wireless coverage locator on our Web site, our current and prospective customers can key in addresses they often frequent to see our superior coverage for themselves.”

SpatialPoint’s Atlas technology combined with MapPoint Web Service, a component of Microsoft Virtual Earth, powers the Cincinnati Bell wireless coverage locator. To check wireless coverage at a particular address visit www.cincinnatibell.com/consumer/wireless/coverage.

“The wireless coverage locator shares with customers the availability and reliability that Cincinnati Bell Wireless coverage provides. Other carriers say they have coverage in a given area, but Cincinnati Bell actually shows their customers,” said SpatialPoint President and CEO Alex Machinis. “By using our Atlas technology we’re able to quickly deliver solutions such as this, without the added complexity of traditional GIS systems. Our implementation with Cincinnati Bell required just six weeks.”
