Family Lifeline Returning to its Roots in Richmond

April 07, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Family Lifeline (www.familylifeline.org), a 130-year-old nonprofit organization with a mission of helping Richmond area residents where they live, work and learn, is moving its headquarters in an effort to fulfill that mission.

The big move is scheduled to take place on April 20. Family Lifeline's new offices are located in a recently renovated building at 2325 West Broad Street, across from the Science Museum of Virginia. For the last 30 years, they have been in a nondescript building located just inside Henrico County, at 1518 Willow Lawn Drive.

"Many of our clients are in Richmond, so we want to be in the city reaching out, not outside the city reaching in," said Family Lifeline President and CEO Reed Henderson. "With our 130th birthday as an organization this year, it's a great time for this move."

The offices on Willow Lawn Drive reflected the organization's mission three decades ago - as a confidential counseling agency. Today, Family Lifeline manages a number of programs designed to help local residents of all ages help themselves.

For teens in need, Family Lifeline has programs that work to keep them in school through graduation and help them transition to life as an independent adult. For young families, the agency works to ensure babies are born healthy, stay healthy, and go to school ready to learn. For the elderly and disabled, Family Lifeline provides in-home assistance to help them stay in their own homes for as long as possible, and relieve some of the burden of care from their loved ones. These programs provide documented results that Family Lifeline's approach is changing the future for the families it serves.

"One of the things that sets Family Lifeline apart from many other organizations is our willingness to evolve," said Mr. Henderson. "This move, while it may seem like just a relocation, is part of our evolution."
